Food Show-off

Maternity leave provided me the opportunity to watch a lot of television, and cookery shows are my favourite.

In the land of foodies, food shows are bound to be popular. Over the years, the number of cookery programmes have risen like a well-baked cake, and the viewers have understandably followed. Whether to just watch and ruminate,or get inspired in the kitchen, these food fanatics follow some culinary shows with a vengeance. We asked some of them which their favourite shows are,and what keeps them hooked

Maternity leave provided me the opportunity to watch a lot of television, and cookery shows are my favourite. I especially like Chakh Le India by Aditya Bal on NDTV Good Times, all the shows on Food Food Channel, and cooking by Nigella on TLC. These are awesome shows which showcase delicious recipes.

I enjoy Nigella Lawson’s cooking and Masterchef Australia a lot. I cook at times, though not regularly. The best dish I have succeeded in making so far is Eggs Benedict. I like watching the shows because of how they mix and match exotic ingredients and flavours. It is is fascinating to watch.

I am absolutely addicted to TLC and Food First, they are fun to watch. I enjoy cooking myself, and love how the shows on these channels showcase passion for food. For me,all food should look, smell and taste good,so even if it is simple dal-chawal,I make sure to plate it well.

Rahul Majumdar,musician

I love watching Food Safari on Fox Traveler and also Masterchef Australia. Most of the ingredients that they use are so foreign to us,we may not even have heard of them! But I like their sense of competition, their approach to food. My husband and I are big foodies,so it’s good to see the same passion for food everywhere.

Chaitali Jhadhav,physiotherapist

On Food Food,I enjoy Sanjeev Kapoor’s shows. I’ve tried some of his Chinese food recipes, like Chicken in Hoisin sauce and Oyster sauce which my grandson loved. Even Rakesh Sethi’s tea-time recipe of Finger Chips with Honey and Tomato Ketchup made for a delicious snack. On TLC,Nigella Lawson’s desserts and Donna Hay’s fresh and simple recipes make me immediately want to try them out. I’m looking forward to making Hay’s recipe of a baked dish comprising fried sausage, egg and cream.
