Mercedes Benz International School,accredited by the Council of International Schools and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges,recently saw its first class of graduates in the IB Diploma Programme.
It consisted of four students who are now studying in universities in the US,UK,Germany and Switzerland. While the current enrollment programme has 47 students,next years enrollment is expected to expand further.
The 20 students in the class of 2009 have gained admissions in numerous universities,including the London School of Economics,University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill,Rutgers University -New Brunswick,Bentley University,Bryant University,Hofstra University,University of San Francisco and University of Washington.
Carmela Mandaglio,placement counsellor for Mercedes Benz,said,Universities appreciate the well-rounded education that students receive at MBIS and value their ability to think out of the box,their independence and sense of social responsibility.
Since the inception of the IB Diploma Programme,Mercedes Benz has hosted several university fairs and presentations. This year,the school will host the CIS Canadian University Fair in August,the CIS American University Fair in October and plans to arrange a UK University Fair in September.
Individual university admissions officers and representatives from the United States,United Kingdom,Canada,Germany,Switzerland,and Italy have visited MBIS,for seminars,informative presentations and individual student interviews.
