Pune police arrested four suspects in two separate operations in last two days and seized firearms from them. Two of the arrested are history sheeters and the other two were in the city to execute an illegal arms deal. All four were booked under the Arms Act and later produced before a magisterial court.
In the first operation, personnel of Anti-Goonda squad arrested two suspects separately on Monday and Tuesday from Kasarwadi and Kondhwa.
Ganya alias Ganesh Shinde, a resident of Kasarwadi and a history sheeter with charges of robbery against him, was arrested from Kasarwadi. Rajendra Taware, wanted for murder was arrested on Tuesday from Yewale Wadi in Kondhwa. Police recovered a pistol and a live cartridge each from both the accused.
On Tuesday, police teams working with unit-4 arrested two suspects from Phugewadi after being alerted by informants. According to police, Raghunath Dhaware,33, a resident of Ahmednagar was arrested by police from outside Ashok Hotel in Phugewadi with a country-made pistol on his person. During inquiry, Dhaware said that he was to hand over the firearm to Sameer Bhalerao, 24, a resident of Katraj. Police set a trap and arrested Bhalerao as well.
Case of Arms Act has been registered against both of them at Bhosari Police station.
