Fatima XI edge out Ghorpadi in football tournament

Fatima XI narrowly edged out Ghorpadi Young Ones in a tiebreaker at the Sanna Anna Trophy held at the Range Hills Ground yesterday.

Fatima XI narrowly edged out Ghorpadi Young Ones in a tiebreaker at the Sanna Anna Trophy held at the Range Hills Ground yesterday.

The teams could not find the back of the net in regulation time as the match went into a penalty shootout. Shahnawaz Khan,Arun Das,Krishal Fernandez and Baptis Lobo converted their spot-kicks for Fatima XI,while Sandil Pillai,Ajay Awale and Kamlesh Mehta scored for the opposite team. Kunal Angirwal and Vishal Angirwal missed crucial penalties for Ghorpadi Young Ones as Fatima XI won 4-3.

Rahul FC had to fight hard to overcome the home team Range Hills Young Boys,narrowly winning 3-2 in the end.

Sagar Mawlinkar scored in the 12 th minute to give Rahul FC a 1-0 lead,but this lead was soon neutralized by Sudesh Thakur,as the Range Hills Young Boys striker ran onto a pass from Mohnish Faiyaz to equalize. Rahul FC regrouped,however,and scored two goals in the space of nine minutes to give themselves a little breathing space. Balwant Bora found Ruturaj Gawadi open,and Gawadi slotted home with ease in the 31 st minute. Mawlinkar added to his tally,scoring in the 40 th minute to give his team a 3-1 lead. Mohan Das pulled one back through a solo effort in the 45 th  minute,but Range Hills Young Boys could not find an equalizer as Rahul FC held on for a 3-2 win.
