Excellence award for architect

City architect Vijaya Yadav was recently honoured with the Architecture Excellence Award by former Governor and Union Minister Dr Bhishma Narayan Singh at the national seminar and award function on National Economic & Social Responsibilities held at India Habitat in New Delhi.

City architect Vijaya Yadav was recently honoured with the Architecture Excellence Award by former Governor and Union Minister Dr Bhishma Narayan Singh at the national seminar and award function on National Economic & Social Responsibilities held at India Habitat in New Delhi.

The seminar was organised by the All India Achievers Foundation to highlight the contributions of various individuals and organisations in the fields of industry,commerce,health,education,technology,engineering,information technology,sports,tourism etc. Yadav was selected for her outstanding contribution in architecture.

She is the proprietor for Vijaya Yadav Architects & Planners,a rapidly expanding firm credited with providing quality-based services and innovative designs since 1979.

After graduating from Abhinav Kala Vidyalaya,Yadav registered with the Indian Council of Architecture as well as the Commonwealth Secreteriat Marlborough House,London. I was surprised when I came to know that I was nominated. I feel honoured that the council thought I am worthy for such an award, said Yadav,who has designed medical college buildings for Bharatiya Vidya Peeth,Pune as well as school buildings and Information Technology Campuses across the country.

My work is not mainstream like apartments and malls. I feel that a building for educational institution must be very functional without looking severe. One must feel nice while looking at it and moving inside it, she added. Yadav is presently working on the design and layout of Dayanand Anglo Vedic International Residential School,Mulshi.
