Photographer Shreekant Wagh displays his fascination for actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan through his exhibition
It is not unusual for people to display how Bollywood crazy and star struck they are. Shreekant Wagh,a city-based freelance photographer, has seen and interacted with a number of stars. But one easily senses a special fascination for superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Wagh’s photography exhibition shows interesting pictures of his “two favourite heroes”. The exhibition, organised by Sahitya Kala Vartul Academy, has more than 100 photographs of Bachchan and Khan clicked by Wagh.
Different moods of the artists are juxtaposed at once. One finds Big B whispering something to Mukerji at an awards function, and SRK holding the audience in rapt attention at a fund raiser. Then, there is a picture of SRK captured in an artsy way, making it look more like a painting. There’s one of Bachchan laughing, his eyes mirthful.
Wagh has shot these pictures over the last two decades. I never really thought of this in a planned manner. My professional assignments required me to visit places and events where Bachchan and SRK were present. Enamoured by them,I decided to capture their brilliance, he says. He is inspired by them for they both have paved their own success path. They aren’t easy subjects of photography,he admits. Sometimes there are security issues, other times there are large crowds.
(The exhibition is on till today at Shreejyoti Art Gallery,Hadapsar)
