After 25 months of hard work,Pune district collectorate is getting ready to get 1SO 9000 in three months. With an achievement of 99.93 per cent of clearing files from various departments under the zero pendency and daily disposal scheme, the Pune district collectorate is aiming for a status of “hassle-free” and “follow-up-free” administration.

Only 1,584 files remain pending as of now and pendency has been cleared till September 2010. For those who appealed before September 30 last year and have not received feedback, the district administration has called them to meet the officer concerned on Monday and Friday.

In a presentation made by district collector Chandrakant Dalvi to the media on Monday,he said for the last two years the district administration has been consistently working towards this initiative. “With Pune being an e-district,it was necessary to oil the system accordingly and make it effective. All officials from all sections were involved in the drive from 2008. The set of rules of the government which required files to be cleared in a stipulated time frame had to be implemented,” said the collector who said they were trying for the ISO 9000 status for the systematic implementation of the drive.

The first year,2008, saw the entire administration sorting out the files in the order of importance. File A is the most important, file B is to be preserved for 30 years, file C is to be preserved for 10 years and file D for one year. “I had to visit each and every office for all the talukas to mobilise the administration to clear the files according to this sections,” said the collector.

Resident deputy collector Anil Pawar said,“A weekly meeting was held by the collector to ensure that all officers were clearing the files in the stipulated time frame. On an average to achieve the target of 99 per cent, almost 1 lakh documents were being cleared from various departments under the collectorate.
