Nature has its own healing mechanisms for every imbalance. Naturopathy is all about avoiding interference with the healing mechanisms of the nature
Tatra satvam nirmalatvat prakashakam anamayam Sukha sangena badhnati dnyana sangena chanagha (It is purity that amalgamates happiness and knowledge connecting your soul to the supreme power) Bhagavadgeeta, chapter 14,verse 6 For many, this might just be another verse from a holy book. But for Dr Jainarayan Jaiswal, this is the governing principle of his life. From the life-changing illness of his mother that compelled him to take nature cure for her,to the decision to make naturopathy,a way of life for himself and many others suffering from deadly diseases,Jaiswals life is that of a yogi, who finds answers for questions posed by medical science in nature, five elements and holy books.
In 1945,my mother was down with tuberculosis. After one month of medical treatment, the doctors said it was beyond their capacity as she had developed a cavity in her right lung. As a last resort,we got in touch with Naturopath Dr Vitthaldas Modi, who advised us to give her complete bed rest and kept her on Naturopathy diet for seven days. Within three months of Naturopathy treatment my mother was cured not only of TB but all the minor illnesses she was suffering from, says Jaiswal with tears in his eyes.
The basis of Naturopathy is being healthy to avoid illness rather than just treating it,says Jaiswal who,in pursuit of his ambition moved to Urali Kanchan near Pune and completed his education in Naturopathy from B J Medical College and Ashtanga Aayurveda Mahavidyalaya. Whatever the advancements in medical science, creation of life is still not in our hand. What we do while treating patients in Naturopathy is avoid interference with the supreme elements that have a mechanism of their own to heal any organism.
Explaining the logic behind Langhan, meaning fast, one of the most important aspects of Naturopathic treatments,he adds,Human body is made of five elements and all the medical therapies yoga or Ayurveda, through intake, exercises, medicine, pranayam tap the four elements except for sky. But the fact is that all the other elements are generated from sky or space or vacuum as we may call it. By fasting,we trigger the vacuum in our body that in turn acts as the generator of new, fresh cells.
Jaiswal also had company of the legendary Vinoba Bhave during Bhudaan Yagya, which lead to a great influence of Bhave on his philosophy.
Having treated over 10,000 patients and written over 30 books,Jaiswal comes back to the philosophy in Bhagawad Gita, which gives out the secret formula of healthy life saying,Answering three questions Who am I? Where have I come from? And where will I go? is enough to take one to the roots of life. The day we realise that we are an element of nature,we will eat food in the purest form, avoid wrong combinations of food items, live in pure environment and rather than using our small brain for solving our problems, ask nature for help- and then miracles will happen, like theyve always been happening.
