After the state government failed to act on its promises given in writing in March,the Maharashtra Federation of Junior College Teachers Organisation (MFJCTO) has decided to stage protests from September 5.
Union members said the teaching activities wont be affected for a week but the future course of the protests will depend on the governments response.
To register their protest,MFJCTO has decided to observe September 5,the Teachers Day,as black day.
We will stage a protest in Kolhapur where many ministers along with the Chief Minister will be present for the best teachers awards. All junior college teachers will assemble at their respective District Collectorate offices on Teachers Day and stage a protest. As a mark of protest,teachers will wear black bands around their arms during school hours, said Anil Deshmukh,Secretary,MFJCTO.
He added,If withing a week the government does not take any action,we will intensify our protest.
In March,teachers had boycotted assessment of papers for 18 days after the government failed to act on their demands
Since we were copncerned about the future of Class XII students,we decided to stop our agitation. After we ended our strike,teachers put in extra hours to complete the assessment and post-assessment work and declared results on time, said Deshmukh.
Deshmukh said the government had given in writing that all the demands would be resolved within three months. Even after following up with the education minister,nothing has happened. So we have decided to stage protests from September 5, said Deshmukh.
Over 55,000 junior college teachers,who had boycotted the evaluation and moderation duty of HSC exam,had called off their stir on March 13 after the state agreed to some of their demands.
