Classical Tones

Pandit Rajendra Kandalgaonkar performed at a classical vocal concert at Sawai Gandharva Smarak in Pune recently,on the occassion of Guru Poornima. Pt Kandalgaonkar was a disciple of the late Pt Bhimsen Joshi. The concert started with Kandalgaonkar’s rendition of Raga Madhukans and which was followed by ‘Awe Rasiya Mohana’,a bandish in vilambit ektaal and ‘Tumpar Vari Jaun’ in madhya laya teentaal. The maestro was accompanied by Avinash Patil on the tabla and Umesh Purohit on the Harmonium.
