Police told to tighten vigil
The Pune police have been asked to tighten security after reports of firing on a tourist bus in Delhi near the Jama Masjid. Joint commissioner of police Ashok Dhiware said,“We are already on alert with all the possible strength. We have now asked the force to keep up the vigil,increase patrolling and keep a close watch on suspicious movements.” A senior police officer said they had been asked to increase patrolling in sensitive areas.

40 hrs after drowning,boy’s body surfaces
The body of Pradeep Bajaj,19,who had reportedly fallen into the Mula river from a running Pune-Lonavala local train in Dapodi on Friday was found floating near Mahadevwadi on Sunday,nearly 40 hours after the incident. The body has been handed over to relatives. A constable with Khadki police said,“A local resident had spotted the body. It was about a km away from where Bajaj had reportedly fallen.” Bajaj was reportedly trying to throw a coin into the river when his hand hit a bridge pole and fell down. Fire officer SB Jillewar who was part of the search operation said the body had drifted away and was difficult to trace.

Chhajed Civil Defence chief warden
Ex-Congress MLA from Bopodi Chandrakant Chhajed has been appointed chief warden of Civil Defence,Pune. District Collector Chandrakant Dalvi handed over the appointment letter to Chhajed who has been working as a Civil Defence volunteer from 1971. The appointment is valid for three years.

Youth held for assaulton policeman
Police have arrested a 22-year-old youth for allegedly attacking a constable when the latter tried to intervene in a dispute of labourers over use of water from a tap in Gulve Vasti in Bhosari. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against him and 15 others. Inspector RP Choudhar said,“The labourers had a dispute over using water from a tap in their locality. A few days ago,they had a fight but it was not reported. Constable Swapnil Bartakke suffered serious injuries on his head and arms when he tried to intervene in a fight on Friday. We have arrested one Dhananjay Vishwakarma in this case and search is on for others.”
