Mahalok Adalat disposes of 30,679 cases
In the Mahalok Adalat organised in courts across Pune district on Sunday,30,679 cases were disposed of by amicable settlement. Of these,almost half,14,204 cases,were settled at Shivajinagar Court by 56 panels including sitting judges. The cases included criminal,civil and family disputes. A large chunk related to the juvenile court. Aiming at reducing pendency and providing speedy justice to litigants making the rounds of various courts in Pune district,the Mahalok Adalat was organised by the Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA). A large number of long-pending cases were disposed of. The initiative got a positive response, said district judge Anant Badar. Another such Lokadalat will be organised in Baramati taluka on Monday. It will focus on land disputes,said Rajendra Malavade,secretary PDLSA. Over 120 policemen were deployed on Shivajinagar court premises on Sunday.
Three arrested for robbing businessman
A special investigating team of Pune police crime branch arrested three persons in a case involving an Andheri-based jeweller,who was allegedly kidnapped and robbed of gold ornaments worth 67 lakh and Rs 1.8 lakh in cash. On September 8,Bharatkumar Jain,who had come to Pimpri for business purpose,was kidnapped,robbed and left at a secluded place in Maval,police said. The suspects were identified as Vickey Gaikwad,19,Devidas Kalekar,21,and Sonu Singh,20, all residents of Maval. Police said four others suspects,Mohan Jadhav,Kunal Konade,Surendra Singh and Mahendra Singh are absconding. They are believed to have fled to Rajasthan.
