Charges framed in Sahani murder case

Five years after the kidnap and murder of Sagar Sahani (21),son of Pimpri-based businessman,special judge S S Gadge on Tuesday framed charges against 11 suspects – Mohammed Abali,Prasad Jagganath Shetty,Jagwalsingh Bhuraram Chaudhary,Chhotu alias Arvind Vitthal Chaudhary,Dipubhai Dayaram Khanki,Jitendra Shantilal Modha,Samad Goga Gadvi alias Kariya,Ajay Parnath Gadvi,Dinesh Kasambhai Dhukdiya,Chhotu Gisaiwala alias Ravetsingh Devendrasingh Badavia and Nitin Shantilal Modha.

Sagar,son of Satinder Sahani of Yamunanagar in Nigdi,was abducted on August 14,2005. He was allegedly murdered on August 24,a day after the family had paid Rs 15 lakh as ransom in Mumbai through hawala channels after negotiating with Dubai-based gangster Aabid Ali. His body was found on the Mumbai-Vapi highway on August 26.

The Pune police crime branch had charged the suspects under Sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy),302 (murder),201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code.
