Remember the shot in the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na where the camera pans the entire room of stark paintings that showcase the heroine Genelia D’Souza’s brother’s angst? While many might not know the truth behind the paintings but for upcoming and struggling artist Hoshnar Kaikobad, back then it was a good opportunity to showcase his art in the film. And ever since there has been no looking back.
Kaikobad, who is presently involved with an exhibition of his paintings in charcoal titled Charcoal Hues, which begins today till and is on till August 3 at Bliss Art Gallery,Koregaon Park, recalls the time when he had to face frustration as an artist in Mumbai. Maybe that’s why the paintings were so dark as it reflected my mood,” says Kaikobad of that time.
Some common friends introduced him to the art director in the film Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na and the theme of the shot simply clicked with the manner in which I had painted. I took the entire set of my paintings and displayed them on the wall in the room,” recalls Kaikobad.
