Candidates confident

MNS candidate Ranjit Shirole claimed that the feedback was positive and encouraging from across the segments.

Confidence was ubiquitous as they waited for the D-day and the final number. For candidates, the day before the results was filled with anticipation

MNS candidate Ranjit Shirole claimed that the feedback was positive and encouraging from across the segments.

“I almost feel like someone who has appeared for the exam and is awaiting the results. I am quite relaxed. There is no frenzied feeling or any kind of nervousness. The only sleepless ones are my opponents. I am glad that I have got a good start and have a long way to go,” he said.

Launching two projects two days ago,D S Kulkarni was in his usual business mode. “But I am back on the politics mode. Being an industrialist, the tensions don’t bother me. Yesterday was a working day for me and I was on the site. I am confident of a margin of around 25,000,” he said.

Anil Shirole spoke of a win with a margin of more than 50,000 votes. “Everything was decided long back so there wasn’t any unusual feeling waiting for the results. I generally visit my fields at Rihe in Mulshi on Saturday but since its the counting day,I went to the fields on Friday. I also attended the meetings. Besides these, there is no particular enthusiasm or nervousness. I have not planned anything for today. However, everyone at home is curious and anxious.”

For Arun Bhatia of People’s Guardian Party, celebrations are already on the roll with plans for future activities. “I am 120 per cent sure of the win. I am very buoyant, and Friday was a peaceful day. The most important thing we are doing at present is creating a database of complaints for a petition to be presented before the election commission or court. Though I am sure about my win,the voting process was not transparent since many locations of the booth were changed,” he said.
