CA student held for cheating

Chatushrungi police on Monday arrested Shahjan Khurshid Khan (29),a resident of Bibwewadi-Kondhwa Road on charges of cheating and forgery.

Chatushrungi police on Monday arrested Shahjan Khurshid Khan (29),a resident of Bibwewadi-Kondhwa Road on charges of cheating and forgery. A student of chartered accountancy he was doing his articleship with Sunil Shankar Yalol.

Police said that Khan forged stamps and duped Yalol of Rs 9.80 lakh.

According to police,Khan was doing the tax audit of Jagtap Automobiles for the last three years and submitted the tax return documents to Income Tax office. Khan used the stamp of Yalol on the documents without his knowledge.

Sub inspector A N Narute said the case came to light when Jagtap decided to hand over the audit work to one Vijay Anpad.

Police produced Khan before the judicial magistrate (first class) A K Mandavgade seeking police custody. The court remanded Khan to police custody till March 11.
