Vodafone,in association with Research in Motion,has started a two-week service camp at Vodafone stores in the city.

Vodafone’s BlackBerry service camp

Vodafone,in association with Research in Motion,has started a two-week service camp at Vodafone stores in the city. The camp will go on till May 22. BlackBerry customers,irrespective of their service provider,can avail themselves of services for free of cost during the camp,said a press release. Customers can also buy new handsets at discount rates in exchange for old phones. Sanjay Warke,chief executive officer,Vodafone Essar Cellular Ltd,Maharashtra and Goa ,said,“BlackBerry is no longer the aspirational communication device limited to business executives. It is now used by people from all walks of life.”

Sungard opens new centre in Aundh

Sungard,a software and technology services company,has opened a new global solutions centre at Westend Centre One,Aundh. The new facility will employ around 2,000 employees. Mack Gill,president,global technology segment,Sungard,said,“Through such centres,SunGard is investing to scale up its worldwide technology and operational backbone. India is a key part of our strategy,with tremendous potential for growth.¿ Akila Krishnakumar,chief operating officer,global technology segment and country head,said,“We continue to hire specialist domain and technology talent to scale up our India operations.”

Messung goes in for technology upgrade

Industrial automation group Messung has made an investment of Rs 10 million over the past few months to upgrade the technology on their machine floor by installing a ‘reflow oven’ to increase productivity. With a current capacity of manufacturing one lakh printed circuit board assembly (PCBA ) units a year,Messung Systems aims at increasing the capacity to two lakh with the new complete automatic surface mounted technology (SMT) line. Company chairman and managing director Farook Merchant said,¿After analysing the current scenario of the ever growing demand for cutting edge automation products and solutions,it became imperative for us to set up a world-class machine that enhances efficiency and prompt delivery.”

Eco-friendly township in Hinjewadi

Kumar Urban Development Ltd (KUL) has announced the launch of an integrated,eco-friendly township named KUL Ecoloch in Hinjewadi. Prior to starting construction,KUL had carried out a survey asking the prospective buyers to share their expectations of a premium home and township before designing the project. “The innovation in the project,built on a 110-acre plot at Mahalunge,is that buyers were involved in the design of their dream home,” said KUL director Kruti Kumar Jain.
