The brand Oscar comes with a price and the price is paid and paid well by the audience. With Oscar nominations tagged with Milk,The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Reader the theatres had their hopes high. Now post the awards ceremony, the hopes soar even higher. Inox,E- Square and Citypride are the ones running the shows of Milk.

Milk, which released last week, met a lukewarm response but with Sean Penn winning the Oscar for best actor (male) for Milk, the sale hit the top gear. “Milk did meet a lukewarm response until last evening. Today,we already have got bookings for the evening show. The afternoon show too drew a comaparatively larger crowd. Afternoon was the time when the Oscar fever had just hit the people,” says Rishikesh Chaphalkar,Citypride.

With a considerable rise in sales, the multiplexes are keeping their fingers crossed for the other two Oscar winning releases next week. “For the first time it happened so that just after the Oscars two Oscar winning films are being released and we are hoping a much larger audience to turn up for the films,” says Gaurav Bhure, assistant marketing manager,Inox.

With the spotlight on them all thanks to their Oscar wins, the films will be highlight of the theatres in the days to come. “The media will not let the people forget about the Oscar wins. And a Oscar win is the ultimate quality mark of the film. It makes the audience find the answer of the question as to why the film one the highest film recognition award in the world. So obviously we hope that Milk too is going to see more rise in the sale of Tickets and so do The Reader and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, says Neerav Panchmiya,E- Square.

However,as the city awaits the release of the two Oscar-winning films,Milk, which has already been released,is basking in the glory of the moment with increased sale in tickets.
