Back with a Bang

With a completely new set of musicians and bands which have not performed in the city during the last two festivals,the most anticipated music festival of the year,Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2012,aims to be bigger,better and louder this year.

With a completely new set of musicians and bands which have not performed in the city during the last two festivals,the most anticipated music festival of the year,Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2012,aims to be bigger,better and louder this year. “We have a bigger venue that helps us bring in a lot more elements to the festival with a brand new lineup with new set of artistes. As always,over 80 per cent of the acts will be Indian,” says Vijay Nair,CEO of Only Much Lounder,organizers of the music festival.

To be held in the city from November 2 to 4 at Amanora Park Town,the festival will feature six stages in every city,dedicated to a different genre of music and experience.

The Eristoff Wolves Den,one of the stages,will feature Anish Sood,goa-based techno and trance DJ,Delhi-based Nulceya and audio-visual collective B.L.O.T as well as the punk live acts,Driving Lolita and Bombay Bronx from London.

Afrobeat biggies,Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 from Nigeria are to perform at the Dewarists Stage,a platform for folk and fusion music. There will also be Indian performers like Kailasa from Mumbai,Thermal and a Quarter as well as carnatic rock act,Agam from Bangalore and folk-fusion act,La Pongal from Chennai. “Apart from performing,I just want to be a part of this experience as a music fanatic,” says Darbuka Siva,La Pongal.

From fist-raising anthems to frenzied moshpits,the Bacardi Black Rock Arena will feature international headliners Karnivool,followed by action packed performances by Mumbai-based Pangea,Indus Creed,and Devoid,Bangalore-based Kryptos,Eccentric Pendulum and Inner Sanctum as well as Them Clones from Delhi. “We’re sharing the stage with real greats like Karnivool. We’ve only heard great things about he festival,so we’re really kicked about playing this year,and really looking forward to it,” says Uday Benegal,Indus Creed.

Other than the Dub Station stage and The Other Stage,this year will also feature The Fully Fantastic Stage,which is aimed at bringing everything from popular favourite bands as well as new-on-the-block bands to the stage. Adam and The Fish Eyed Poets from Chennai,Peter Cat Recording Co. from New Delhi,garage punk act The Lightyears Explode from Mumbai,The Supersonics from Kolkata,Brooklyn hip-hop act Das Racist from New York,outspoken rap act Gandu Circus and rock act Spud In The Box from Mumbai will be a part of it.
