‘Appoint panel of experts,not workers for Ganesh festival’

Supporting the demands of the Ganesh mandals,NCP spokesperson Ankush Kakade has urged PMC to appoint a panel of experts instead of party workers as judges in the Ganesh mandal contest. PMC conducts contest for Ganesh mandals and gives rewards to those coming up with the best mandal in various categories. These mandals have been alleging the appointment of political workers on the panel is affects the results.

“PMC should appoint experts with knowledge of the Ganesh festival to avoid controversies. The civic body should keep political workers away from the panel,” said Kakade in a letter to Mayor Vaishali Bankar. The mayor appoints the members on the panel.
