Abandoned baby found on river bed

An abandoned baby girl was found on river bed near Mhatre bridge in Erandwane on Saturday. An offence has been registered against unidentified persons at Kothrud police station. Inspector S B Nawale of Kothrud police station,said,“A baby girl was found on the river bed around 3.30 pm today. An offence has been registered and we will soon identify the person who abandoned the baby.”

In another incident,Kothrud police have registered an offence against a 27-year-old woman for allegedly throwing her newly-born baby boy from her residence on Wednesday. The baby died in the incident.

“We have not yet arrested the woman as she has been admitted to hospital,” said Nawale. The woman reportedly gave birth to boy in a toilet on the first floor of the building in which she resides. She allegedly threw the baby from the toilet window. The baby was rushed to hospital but was declared dead. Assistant police inspector A D Walimbe is investigating the case.
