Keeping up its tradition of introducing the youth to Indian classical music,Pancham Nishad Creatives will present Bolava Vitthal,a unique concert of devotional songs dedicated to Lord Paduranga,on Saturday,which is Ashadi Ekdasi. Millions of devotees of Lord Panduranga across the state walk in groups singing abhangs on the auspicious occasion.

Started in 2006 with Ganasarwasti Kishori Amonkar’s performance,Bolava Vitthal has now spread its wings from Mumbai to eight different cities across India. Music stalwarts such as Ajit Kumar Kadkade,Shankar Mahadevan,Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar,Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande,Upendra Bhatt,Devaki Pandit,Suresh Wadkar,Shaunak Abhisheki and Jayateerth Mevundi are among those who have performed during the event. “This initiative has been taken by Pancham Nishad to spread the rich culture of Maharashtra,” said Shashi Vyas,Director,Pancham Nishad Creatives. He added that they have roped in artists Jayateerth Mevundi,who is based in Hubli,and the Ranjani-Gayathri sisters from Chennai,since Lord Vitthal is worshiped in their states too. Explaining the essence of the music,Vyas said bhakti sangeet of India is multi-flavoured due to the country’s multi-lingual and multi-cultural structure.
