Shriya Pilgaonkar, daughter of veteran actors Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar, calls herself introspective and adventurous. Looking comfortable in a T-shirt and a pair of beige trousers,Shriya says her debut Marathi film Ekulti Ek is special to her because its a milestone for her dad. Directed by Sachin, the film marks his 50 years in the Marathi film industry. For Shriya, living up to her parents’ name is more like a responsibility than a pressure. Because I am the daughter of Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar, people have expectations fixed on me as I gear up to carry the family legacy, she says. Shriya says that the movie is about the relationship of a father-daughter,who are strangers to each other and the journey of how the relationship is moulded. Her character,Swara,is that of a vulnerable but strong-headed girl. My role is of a girl who is like a child and a woman at the same time. I am sure that by the end of the movie, the audience will miss her as her personality is contagious, she says. Talking about her experience with her father on the sets,Shriya says the first day was a nervous experience as she was shooting with her father. I was not nervous to be in front of the camera but nervous in front of my dad, she says, adding that he is not a father but a director while shooting.
