6,659 polling stations for this assembly election

Voting in the forthcoming Assembly elections on October 13 will take place across 6,659 polling stations of which,5,840 are main polling stations and 819 are auxiliary polling stations.

Voting in the forthcoming Assembly elections on October 13 will take place across 6,659 polling stations of which,5,840 are main polling stations and 819 are auxiliary polling stations.

The Lok Sabha elections had seen 6,125 polling stations of which 5,840 main stations and only 285 were auxiliary stations. For these elections a total of 2,852 buildings have been allocated while 5,289 block level officers and 698 sector officers will be on election duty.

Collector Chandrakant Dalvi,who is also the chief election officer,said that for the election duty,6,659 persons will be presiding officers and 42,114 persons will be on election duty for the 21 assembly constituencies in the district. A total of 6,659 Electronic Voting Machines would be required,of which 666 are reserved for the election process and 666 will be used for the training process.

Counting of votes in the eight assembly constituencies will be held at the Shivajinagar godown while for Pimpri and Chinchwad assembly constituency it will be at the Balewadi sports complex.
