Forty-six class XI Commerce students of Kendriya Vidyalaya NDA were allegedly not allowed inside their classroom on Friday and Saturday for spilling soft drinks in their classroom.
Students alleged that the principal had asked them not to come to school for one month. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatna officials said that no order of suspension had been issued.
In the next class, another teacher came and complained about it to the principal. The principal asked us to tell us the name of the student who had opened bought the soft drink, but we refused to do so. He asked us to get out of class and said that we were being suspended for a month. Nothing was given to us in writing. We were left standing outside the school gate of the school for two days. Even today when we went,we not allowed to enter, said the student.
Student said their first unit tests will start from Monday.
Devadhe was a teacher with the school on a contractual basis. I have been working here since last year. Yesterday was my last day and students threw an impromptu party for me. I requested the principal to allow the students inside and also apologised to him. But he did not budge and said the students will remain suspended for a month if they do not come up with the names, said Devadhe.
When contacted,Lakshmi Chari, deputy commissioner at Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan said,I came to know about the incident, but no suspension order was given. This was just a disciplinary action on the part of the principal. The students are not allowed to go outside during school hours and yet they went out and bought cake and soft drinks. Anything could have happened to them. The principal did not wanted to call all 46 parents and hence asked for who the culprits were. By Monday, the principal will take a decision. The students need to realise what they did was wrong.
