Two minors among 4 held for robbing cabbie dropping techie in Pune

According to the police, cab driver Ravindra Mane, 44, was on his way to drop off a passenger when the four people intercepted the vehicle in Shivajinagar on February 2 night.

Pune city police nabbed four people on Saturday, including two minor boys, for allegedly robbing a cab driver on the Jangli Maharaj (JM) Road in Shivajinagar.

Police said two of the accused people, Piyush Rajesh Marothe, 22, of Wanavdi Gaon and Pranay Anand Londhe, 18, of Chinchwad were arrested, while the two minors were put under detention.

Police said Mane lives in Lohegaon. While he was on his way to drop off an engineer from an IT company in Pune, the four accused intercepted the cab near a building on JM road in Shivajinagar. around 3.25 am on February 2.

They thrashed Mane, robbed his gold chain worth Rs 20,000, a cell phone of Rs 8,000 and took Rs 2,000 which they forced him to withdraw online, police said.

Based on technical investigation of the online transaction, police found that the thieves had fled to Mumbai. A police team nabbed the accused near Santacruz railway station in Mumbai on Saturday.

A release stated that the accused had prepared to go to Madhya Pradesh. “The accused people are history sheeters,” said senior police inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant. Police recovered two motorcycles, a gold chain and a cell phone that the accused had snatched from the cab driver.
