Will support Shinde faction if they move no confidence motion against Narwekar: Uddhav Thackeray

The party brought legal experts Asim Sarode and advocate Rohit Sharma to criticise Narwekar’s order. Sena MLC Anil Parab also showed documents submitted to the Election Commission (EC) related to the Shiv Sena’s constitutional amendments in 2013 and the party’s internal elections in 2013 and 2018.

A day after the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction moved Bombay High Court and Sena (UBT) moved the Supreme Court challenging Speaker Rahul Narwekar’s verdict that did not disqualify MLAs of either side, UBT faction chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday asked the Shinde group to move a no confidence motion against the Speaker where he promised his support.

“Neither you (Shinde group) nor we have got justice and hence you have approached the court. I request the Governor to call for a special session and I ask them (Shinde faction) to bring a no confidence motion against the speaker. I will extend my support to them. I announce my support today only,” Uddhav said, reiterating that the Shinde faction’s whip will not be applicable to UBT legislators.

Speaking at a mega conference organised to pull apart the disqualification order passed by Narwekar at Worli’s NSCI dome, Uddhav even dared Narwekar and Shinde to face a public debate with him on the question of the “real Shiv Sena” and stated that it was now the people who will decide which Sena is the real party.

“We have moved SC against the order for justice. We will also go to the people’s court for final justice. I challenge Shinde and Narwekar to come out to the public with me without any security and tell people which faction is the real Shiv Sena. The people will then decide who to bury and who to uphold,” Uddhav said.

Sena UBT showed documents and audio visuals of the party’s national executive held in 2013 and 2018, which elected Uddhav as party president and gave him the authority to decide on appointments and removals from the party.

Uddhav also attacked the BJP stating the party was out to finish all regional and opposition parties across the country and said that central agencies like CBI, ED, IT and even the EC were part of the conspiracy to finish Sena, NCP and other opposition parties.

“I now state openly that the EC is also acting as their (BJP’s) servant to act against Sena. Current BJP president JP Nadda had said that there will be only one party in the country. He said that there will be only BJP … The president of one party is openly saying that all parties are going to be finished. This is very dangerous, the murder of democracy and conspiracy to finish the parties had begun then only. The (current state) government is unconstitutional and the then Governor of Maharashtra participated in the conspiracy. Now this fight is not only mine or Shiv Sena’s, but this is a fight to save the democracy and the judiciary and ensure that the democracy is alive and the Supreme Court will exist and will have their powers,” Uddhav said.

He addded that he will be going to the people’s court and they will decide his and the Sena’s future.
