After a delay of nearly five years, the three-lane flyover at Suman Nagar junction on Eastern Express Highway will be thrown open to commuters on Thursday.

The 500-metre long flyover will be the 11th to be thrown open for traffic by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority as part of the Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project. The flyover, the work order for which was issued in 2005,has been built at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

“The Suman Nagar flyover, constructed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, will provide a dedicated facility for the commuters heading towards Vashi,Navi Mumbai and Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and will help thousands of vehicles save time and fuel,” Metropolitan Commissioner Rahul Asthana said.

Commuters driving towards VN Purav Marg wanting to use the flyover are requested to keep left.
