Students beat up train guard after argument

Mayur Dabhade,a CST-bound local train guard,was injured after some students hit him with a cricket stump at Mumbra station on Thursday afternoon. According to sources,the guard had a heated argument with the students and was hit on the hand. He was taken to Thane for first aid and later admitted to Kalyan railway hospital with minor hand fracture. “No complaint has been lodged yet,’ a RPF personnel said.

Major fire at building in Fort,shops gutted

A major fire broke out at a five-storey building in south Mumbai’s Fort area on Thursday. Four floors of the building,which houses several shops,was gutted in fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. A fire officer said,“We got a call around 1.40 pm informing that Ali Building was up in flames. Fire engines were rushed to the spot and we were able to douse the flames within an hour.”
