A 22-year-old engineering student was murdered by unidentified assailants in a local train bound to Thane at 5.15am Thursday. Tushar Jadhav, a resident of Airoli, succumbed to injuries between Ghansoli and Rabale railway station, said G B Thorat, senior inspector, Government Railway Police (GRP) Thane. Jadhav had suffered deep wounds on his neck and back, said Thorat.
A student of eRajendra Mane Collge of Engineering and Technology in Ratnagiri, Jadhav, was on his way home after finishing his third year examinations. He was studying automobile engineering at Ratnagiri.
Jadhav, arrived by Konkankanya at Panvel around 4 am and then took a train to Airoli. When the train arrived at Ghansoli railway station at 5.15am, a GRP cop at the station heard a commotion inside the luggage compartment towards the motorman’s cabin. However, as the train left before he could help, he informed the railway helpline about the incident.
At Rabale railway station, when another GRP cop on night duty checked the luggage compartment, he found the body.
