The DIY gig Control ALT Delete is calling for donations for its first-ever metal-only edition

There are few gigs indie music enthusiasts support as passionately as Control ALT Delete. Although sponsors are keen to put in their money in the growing music scene, Rishu Singh, Nikhil Udupa and Himanshu Pandey decided that there needs to be an avenue for music that is creatively free, without depending on brands and organisers. To do this, with every edition of Control ALT Delete, the trio calls for donation.

In its fifth edition, the gig will host an only-metal lineup for the first time. From Zygnema to Gutslit, the concert will host big-name metal bands, but the highlight is Delhi-based Undying Inc, who return to the city after three years.

Though there was massive buzz about the gig last year, the trio was not able to break even. But Singh is confident this time around. He says, “I’m not worried about meeting our target. We’ve learnt from our last editions and will be doing things differently this time.”

One of the key differences is the change of venue from Sitara Studio to Blue Frog. Secondly, the donations are not on a crowdfunding site, but on a website dedicated to Control ALT Delete. And most importantly, there is no deadline for people to contribute towards the gig. “We want to keep the donations open so that we can continue to accumulate money for future gigs. We have an alternative rock gig planned in September and plan to make the metal event an annual fixture,” says Singh.

In return, the contributors will not only get their names on the guestlist but can also win music community fame with their name put up on the gig’s social media page and sponsor wall, official merchandise, an invite to the after-party, a bar crawl with members from bands, and a song dedication. Each comes at different prices.
