Expressing doubts over the outcome of the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) set up to probe the 2G spectrum allocation scam, the Shiv Sena on Friday justified its decision to stay out of the panel.
Even earlier,JPCs were set up regarding Bofors, the stock market scam and the pesticide issue. What came out of them? Who was punished? We expect that the spectrum JPC does not turn out to be a hotchpotch like the earlier JPCs, Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said in a statement, adding that the party would support those participating in the JPC if they are willing to root out corruption.
He questioned why the Opposition went back on its demand for joint parliamentary panel probe into the Adarsh housing society and Commonwealth Games scams as well and instead settled for a probe just into the 2G spectrum issue. Maintaining that the Opposition had been cheated,he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs announcement of setting up a JPC was a deception.
