Four-time MLA and sitting Palghar legislator Krushna Ghoda died on Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack. The 61-year-old Shiv Sena legislator was returning home after attending a wedding in a village in Palghar at around 2 am, when he suffered a heart attack. Ghoda was taken to Vapi’s Haria hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission.
Ghoda is the fourth sitting legislator to die after the state’s 14th legislature came into being. Govind Rathod (BJP, Mukhed), RR Patil (NCP, Tasgaon), and Prakash Sawant (Shiv Sena, Bandra (E)) had died previously.
Ghoda was elected twice on a Congress ticket from the Dahanu assembly seat, and once on an NCP ticket. But he lost this seat to the Communist Party’s Rajaram Nathuram Ozare in the 2009 assembly polls. Ozare recently joined NCP.

Just before the 2014 elections, Ghoda had switched sides and joined the Shiv Sena, which offered him an assembly ticket from the Palghar seat in the 2014 polls, where he upset former Congress minister and heavyweight Rajendra Gavit by a slender margin of 515 votes.
Ghoda was also elected as vice president of the prestigious Thane District Central Cooperative Bank just days ago. Associated with a number of social and educational institutions, Ghoda had also served as the head of the Dahanu Panchayat Samiti for three terms. His funeral was done at his native Ranshet village in Dahanu on Sunday.
