Ode to the Forgotten

Author and poet Jerry Pinto will engage in conversations with poet,playwright and artist Gieve Patel,and Abhay Sardesai,editor,ArtIndia,on Clearing House the seminal publishing collective from the 70s. The initiative,Open House with Clearing House,organised by India Foundation for the Arts,in collaboration with Art India,will delve into the workings of the cult publishing collective,which defied the market-driven norms of those times and defined English-language poetry in India. It will take place at the NGMA Auditorium at 7pm on July 6.

Eight Scoops to Heaven

Starting today,on the fifth of every month,dessert brand Ice Cream Works will challenge its patrons to enter a friendly competition. Participants,who will have to register on the brands Facebook page,will be made to eat Before I Die First an eight-scoop sundae. The one to finish first will be refunded the desserts bill of Rs 1,228,in addition to other gifts and merchandise. The second and third to finish will get a 50 per cent discount. While it may not look too tough a contest,the real challenge lies in the add-ons that make up the sundae whipped cream,nuts,bananas and choco-corn flakes,among other rich toppings. The contest will be held at 6pm at Ice Cream Works Café in Phoenix Mills,Lower Parel.
