A 35-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Mumbai has been on the run since Sunday and the Mumbai police have formed multiple teams to find him.

According to police sources, the 35-year-old suspect lives next door to the victim. On Saturday evening, while the girl was playing outside, the man lured her to his home under false pretenses. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her before sending her back to her house.

The child, too young to fully understand the situation, began to experience pain during urination. When her mother inquired about her distress, the child revealed that the suspect had hurt her.

The mother informed her husband, and the couple filed a police report the following day. The suspect has since fled the area, prompting the police to form multiple teams to locate him.

He faces charges under Sections 64 and 65(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4, 8, and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
