Photographs of the Wild
It is not a little known fact that India is home to a rich variety of wildlife, and that a number of these species the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Indian vulture, the Asian elephant and the Asiatic lion, among others are on the list of endangered species. And yet,not nearly enough has been done to ensure these animals are saved from extinction. Working towards changing this,Kamal Morarka is showcasing a collection of his photographs taken over the years at various national parks and sanctuaries,at a week-long exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, titled Natures Trail,on till June 30.
Although better recognised as a former Union Minister and a politician,Morarkas interest in wildlife photography goes back many years, and as the Chairman of Sariska Tiger Foundation,an NGO working towards saving the tiger,he has been playing an active role in the conservation of the same. The photographs on display, include a magnificent one of four tigers at a watering hole at Bandhavgarh National Park,Siberian cranes at Bharatpur and another of a tiger with its kill. All proceeds from the sales of these photographs will go to Save the Tigers initiative.
