This December,the Prithvi Theatre is brimming with activities that an art enthusiast must not miss. From December 4 to 12,it will play host to Sarkash—a festival of alternatives. The curtain raises today with Baang—-performances and songs from Safdar Hashmi’s and Janam’s works,followed by Javed Siddiqui’s play Tumhari Amrita,featuring Shabana Azmi and Farooq Shaikh. Sunday’s revelry kicks off with Yeh Dil Mange More,Guruji,a platform performance by Naseeruddin Shah and ends with Ismat Apa ke Naam,featuring Shah,his wife and prominent artiste Ratna Pathak and daughter Heeba.

Horse Power
Renowned Canadian artist Mark Streicher’s colossal figures of horses have turned Gallery Maskara in Colaba into a wonderland. His show,titled Ashwamedh,is a continuation of series ‘equestrian monuments’ and will be on exhibit till January 30. The artist is known for his engagement with architectural spaces and lends a larger-than-life feel to the gallery space with his enormous nylon-skin figures filled with air.

Armed with craziness and a history of unpredictable yet memorable gigs,dOP — a musical trio from Paris popular for its house music — will set Aurus Sundown ablaze with their live performance on Sunday. They will be performing with M.Mat,a Mumbai-based French DJ. So if you have a taste for ultra festive live set mixes,house and techno with folkloric ambience,be there at the pub.

Soul Strings
Heartbeats — The Music Within,a fusion musical concert will play host to the soulful music of Zakir Hussain,Shankar Mahadevan,U Shrinivas,Sivamani and V Selvaganesh at the Shanmukhananda Auditorium,Sion. The concert will be a compilation of tabla performances,Carnatic and Hindustani vocals and percussion.
