Last year,the National Centre for Performing Arts tied up with the UK’s National Theatre Live to screen British plays. The association has so far brought interesting plays such as Chekov’s The Cherry Tree and the bestselling young adult novel stage adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time to the venue. Now,the institution has collaborated with New York’s Metropolitan Opera Theatre for ‘The Met: Live in HD’,a series aiming to reach 1,900 theatres in 60 countries. It will screen 12 iconic transmissions and will be showcased in high definition. The series,slated to go on until 2013,will start this Sunday,with a repeat transmission on Monday. The first show screened will be Donizetti’s comic opera,L’Elisir d’Amour.
