Mowing lawn,man electrocuted at temple

A labourer was electrocuted at the Hare Krishna Temple in Juhu on Thursday morning.

A labourer was electrocuted at the Hare Krishna Temple in Juhu on Thursday morning. Thirty-one-year-old Umesh Paswan died of electric shock while he was mowing the lawn on the temple premises.

The incident happened around 11 in the morning. The management of Hare Krishna Temple has assured that they would compensate the family of the victim,said local corporator Adolf D’Souza. The amount of compensation has not been ascertained yet,he added.

Senior Police Inspector Deepak Katkade from the Juhu police station said,“We have registered a case of causing death due to a rash and negligent act against unknown persons but no arrests have been made so far. We are conducting enquiries to trace the accused.”

Another incident of electrocution in Juhu on Wednesday night left five children injured.

The children got an electric shock while they were playing near the fence of Rose Apartments in Juhu. A live wire was touching the fence of the building and some of the children got hurt after they touched the fence. Of them one was in critical condition until Thursday morning.

The children have been identified as Phalguni Purbia (9),Khushi Rajput ( 9), Hetal Naida (7),Bhavesh Satpal (6) and Harsh Purbia (4). Katkade said,“We arrested Devendra Majidhia,the secretary of the building and Jitendra Doshi,the chairman,on Thursday.” The two were produced before a magistrate and were sent to judicial custody.
