The agreement was facilitated through the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) and Crossrail International (CI).
The partnership, which was formalised at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, focuses on building a world-class, integrated transport system for the city.
According to an MMRDA statement, the collaboration will focus on several key areas: creating seamless intermodal connectivity, improving first- and last-mile access, and driving digital transformation in the transport sector.
In addition, the agreement calls for fostering global knowledge exchange, with an emphasis on research and innovation through partnerships between academic institutions in India and the UK.
Currently, MMRDA is working on a 337-km Metro network, of which around 59 km are already operational, including sections of underground metro.
