The city may get respite from heat this weekend as day temperatures are set to drop following the continuous pre-monsoon rains that lashed Mumbai along with internal parts of Maharashtra through this week.

Last week, the city recorded higher day temperatures ranging between 36-38 degrees Celsius on most days. In March 13, the city recorded the highest day temperature this year, and became India’s hottest spot at 39.4 degree Celsius.

However, following pre-monsoon rains this week, the daily day temperature has started to decline and IMD officials said that through the weekend, day temperatures will be less than 35 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai will experience pleasant weather in the weekend with daily temperature peaking at about 33 degrees. There is a possibility of light drizzle due to current weather phenomenon,” said Sushma Nair, scientist from IMD, Mumbai.
