Man gets life term for murder

A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced Mehmood Khan (24) to life imprisonment for murdering a cards club owner in 2009.

According to the prosecution,Mehmood had an altercation with the victim,Aliulla Khan,at his club in Ghatkopar. Mehmood was not allowed to play cards at the club. Enraged at this,he came a sharp weapon and stabbed Aliulla several times. The police arrested Mehmood immediately and he has been in police custody since then.

During the trial,the prosecution examined eight witnesses including two eyewitness. Based on the testimony,Principal Judge M T Joshi sentenced Mehmood to life imprisonment,said prosecutor Deepak Lade.
