Man found hanging

According to the officers,Kalmashte’s neighbours informed the police after noticing a foul odour emanating from his residence and saw him hanging. Police said Kalmashte had used a bedsheet to end his life.

Kalmashte used to reside in a chawl with his 65-year-old father,60-year-old mother and his sister. After his mother’s death,Kalmashte’s father was staying at his brother’s residence with his daughter,due to bad health conditions.

Surekha,Kalmashte’s sister,had asked him to stay with them but he refused and returned to his Khar residence,where he was staying alone since August.

Surekha has allegedly told the police that her brother was depressed after his mother passed away. She also told the police that Kalmashte was deeply attached to their mother and probably could not come to terms with her death and that he might have taken the extreme step due to depression.

Swati Gaware,Sub-Inspector from Nirmal Nagar police station said,“We have filed an accidental death report and are in the process of recording statements of Kalmashte’s family members.”
