Man arrested for ‘molesting’ foreign national

The police suspect that the accused, Vijay Gadvi, who owns snack shops across the city, is involved in more cases of molestation and are investigating his role in other incidents.

POWAI police on Saturday arrested a 24-year-old man who had allegedly molested a foreign national at Hiranandani in Powai in June.
The police suspect that the accused, Vijay Gadvi, who owns snack shops across the city, is involved in more cases of molestation and are investigating his role in other incidents.

According to Powai police, on June 24, when the foreign national was returning home from a hotel along with her husband, the accused followed them in an Activa car and molested her. The victim and her husband chased the accused but he managed to escape.

An officer from the Powai police station said five police teams were formed to catch the accused. While the probe did not lead them to him for over three months, recently, they received information about a man riding a two-wheeler accused of obscene behaviour towards women. Based on other evidence against Gadvi, he was arrested from Borivali.

Police claim that the Ghatkopar resident has confessed to have committed other similar offences. Gadvi has been booked
under Section 354 (sexual harassment) under the Indian Penal Code.
