Actor-director Rajat Kapoor and Atul Kumar,the founder of the Mumbai-based The Company Theatre,are taking their fruitful association forward with yet another play — William Shakespeare’s King Lear. The creators of Hamlet,The Clown Prince,which had a bunch of clowns performing Shakespeare’s another famous tragedy,are currently rehearsing for this new production. Their adaptation is likely to be a one-act play with Kumar as the solo actor. The play will open at Mumbai’s Prithvi Theatre in February.

Get closer to the king of pop art with a new iTunes application called “The Warhol App”. Launched by The Andy Warhol Museum,it will provide access to around 50 works by Warhol,including The Last Supper,Self-Portrait,Sleep and Mao. With the app,a fan can,not only view the artwork,but also watch a visual of the artist creating it. The app is available at the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace.

Project Tiger

A multi-pronged art and culture initiative is drawing attention to an endangered species — the tiger. While a play called Taqdeer talks about a tiger who no longer lives in a forest but in the Delhi zoo,a painting by Anjolie Ela Menon and a short film draw attention to the need to act before we lose India’s national animal forever. Launched by the Taj Mahal Hotel,Delhi,and Shivani Wazir Pasrich Productions,the project was launched in the Capital and will travel to other cities.
