This Childrens Day,Discover Insignia will distribute donated toys to underprivileged children
Kids from across the city have a chance to put a smile on the faces of the underprivileged children this Childrens Day. In a project that involves eight NGOs,Discover Insignia,an organisation that deals in lifestyle card-making for children, plans to distribute donated toys to underprivileged children across the city.
The lifestyle cards that we make cannot be bought anywhere. They are given to banks or corporates who in turn distribute them to their clients and customers. This year we decided that underprivileged children should be given a chance to benefit in some way.
Discover Insignias project involves setting up collection centres at seven Westside stores across the city where children can donate toys that will be collected throughout the promotion period and taken to a warehouse where they will be segregated, cleaned and repacked to keep them from getting soiled, said Discover Insignia CMO Girish Khare.
The toys will be distributed to eight NGOs who work with underprivileged children. The NGOs will distribute the toys from November 14 till the monthend.
Natasha Albuquerque, member of NGO Aseema which deals with education of underprivileged children, said,Once all the toys are collected and handed over to us,we will distribute them to around 1,200 students of BMC schools in the Bandra area. Shobha Murti, member of NGO Aarambh, said,
Our centres in Navi Mumbai work with children of migrant workers who are basically school dropouts. As per the number of toys we receive,we will be distributing them at our centres or will put them up in our toy libraries where the children can come and play.
We plan to reach out to 28,000 underprivileged childen, Khare said.
