Defending champions Aristocrat Hindustan Football Club scored a 1-0 victory over Simla Youngs to gain three full points in the preliminary group B league match of the Delhi Soccer Association senior division football league being held at the Jasola ground on Wednesday. Hindustan now have six points from two matches while Simla Youngs have drawn a blank in the two matches that they have played.
The all-important winning goal was scored by inside-right Nigerian striker Hussaini in the 13th minute of the first half. Simla Youngs failed to find an opportunity to come back in the match.
In another match of group B,played at the Thyagaraj stadium,last years semi-finalists Andhra Bank Ahbab Football Club were held to a goalless draw by IGL Garhwal Heroes. The two teams shared one point each.
In the first half,Ahbabs striker Faisal and outside-left Nigerian striker Austin missed easy goal scoring chances. Though Garhwal Heroes played an attacking game,forwards Kamal Rawat and Sunny wasted two huge opportunities inside the opponents goal area. Ahbabs Faisal and Austin and Garhwal Heroes Mukesh were also given caution cards following infringements.
