High-five for Mangela

Shardul Bhave takes batting honours with century for Dadar Union CC

Former Mumbai pacer Mundeep Mangela was at his wicket-taking best as he routed Parel SC with a sensational five-wicket haul in a Division A Dr H D Kanga League encounter. Mangela,whose figures read an impressive 5/18, teamed up with Vaibhav Mali,who finished with three wickets,to run through the Parel outfit,bowling them out for a mere 65.

Karnatak CC then took the first innings lead,ending on 68 for 2 with Anup Revandkar unbeaten on 36.

While Mangela took the bowling honours in Division A,the batting bragging rights belonged to Shardul Bhave as he stroked an aggressive 100 for Dadar Union CC in a drawn encounter against Worli CC. Bhave faced 163 deliveries,hit three sixes,and took his team’s score to 216 for 6 declared. In response,Worli finished at 86 for 3 with Vignesh Anand scoring 33.

Former Mumbai skipper Wasim Jaffer was among the runs as always,scoring 86 on a wicket where runs were hardly scored. Jaffer’s half-century led the way for Khar Gymkhana as they reached 176,before restricting PDTSA to 112 for 9 with Jude Singh starring with the ball.

Parsee Gymkhana were dominant in their encounter agianst New Hind CC as they amassed 235 for 5 in their innings before reducing New Hind SC to 91 for 8 with Aavishkar Salvi starring with figures of 3/9 along with Prasad Patil.
