The Bombay High Court (HC) disposed of on Wednesday a PIL demanding prompt action in a case of bribery allegations against the daughter of a retired HC judge, after CBI told it at the previous hearing that her voice did not match samples collected in the course of probe.
In an FIR filed in October last year,CBI had alleged that Manisha, daughter of Justice (Retd) S B Mhase, was involved in a Rs 30-lakh bribery case. It said the money was demanded from a litigant to get a favourable order from State Consumer Redressal Forum,of which Justice Mhase was then acting president.
The PIL by city law student Shakeel Meer Khan demanded that Justice Mhase step down pending investigation and HC monitor the probe till a chargesheet was filed.
CBI first told HC the sample did not match Madhavis voice in March but that of another accused Sunil Shirole did with his voice.
It subsequently named him in a chargesheet filed on September 12.
