Haryana gangster Gadoli: HC extends time to complete trial in fake encounter case by 8 months
Among the arrested were members of the team, three of whom are in judicial custody, undergoing trial

THE BOMBAY High Court has extended time given to complete the trial in the Haryana gangster alleged fake encounter case by eight months.
On February 7, 2016, Sandeep Gadoli, a Gurgaon-based gangster, was shot dead in an alleged encounter with a team of the Haryana Police at a hotel near the international airport in Mumbai. The trial in the case is underway.
A few accused were granted bail by the Bombay High Court in 2023, on grounds, including that there is no likelihood of the trial getting over within a short time. The court had directed the trial court to complete the trial within a time-bound manner. The trial court through the registrar had written to the high court seeking an extension to conclude the proceedings. The high court has now extended the time by eight months.
Gadoli, a gangster based in Haryana, was wanted in over 20 cases and a reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced for information on him. A Gurgaon police team had claimed that when they went to arrest him after receiving information that he was in a Mumbai hotel, the gangster shot at them and he was killed in counter firing. The Mumbai police probe, however, claimed that the gangster was killed in a fake encounter.
Among the arrested were members of the team, three of whom are in judicial custody, undergoing trial. Police had also arrested model Divya Pahuja, who was accompanying Gadoli, and was facing allegations of having helped the accused with information on him. Pahuja was murdered in Haryana in January this year, five months after she was released on bail.
